What is Computer science (CS)

Computer Science Engineering is a four-year course and a branch of engineering which includes an integrated study of computer science and electronic engineering which is intended to develop both hardware and software. Computer Engineering trained an individual in electronic engineering, software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering alone. This field of engineering not only focuses on how the computer system works but also how they integrate into a larger picture. This stream of study involving computer engineers includes writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Being a wider field of study it includes various subfields such as:

  1. Processor design
  2. Coding, cryptography, and information protection
  3. Communications and wireless networks Compilers and operating systems
  4. Computational science and engineering
  5. Computer networks, mobile computing, and distributed systems
  6. Computer systems: architecture, parallel processing, and dependability
  7. Computer vision and robotics
  8. Embedded systems
  9. Integrated circuits, VLSI design, testing, and CAD
  10. Signal, Image, and speech processing
  11. Quantum computing

Eligibility:-

10+2 with science stream especially Mathematics stream. There is some college which seeks 50% to 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 as minimum eligibility to pursue Computer engineering. However, it differs from college to college.

Admission Process:-

Usually combined entrance examinations are conducted such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced to give admission in various colleges. Apart from this, few colleges conduct their entrance examination such as SRMJEEE, BITSAT, VITEEE, KIITEEE.
