What is M.A/Master of Arts

Master of Arts (MA) is two year post-graduate master’s degree. It is in-depth study of what one has taught in Bachelor of Arts. MA course makes the study in-depth and specific. Like in graduation usually students study almost every aspect of history like History of India, History of Europe, its ancient, medieval, and modern history but in MA study becomes specific and in-depth, like only European History.

Following are the subjects which one can choose to pursue a master’s degree:-

Eligibility:-

A Bachelor’s degree is the minimum eligibility to pursue MA, apart from this at least 50% marks is mandatory in that particular subject in which one wants to pursue a master’s. However this 50% may increase depends on the particular college\university.

Usually, admission in Master of Arts is given by various colleges\universities on the basis of marks obtained in graduation however there are few college\university which give admission on the basis of entrance examination. Following are some such entrance tests:-

Career Prospects:-

There is an assumption that Arts are not directly employable however it is not true. Usually, students choose to pursue Arts because they like that subject, they have interest in that subject, hence it is not very difficult to pursue a profession which is actually associated with their like or interest. Hence arts are as remunerative or employable as science and commerce subjects are. The different subject gives different opportunity of a career like A student with Master’s in any Literature can become writer, teacher etc, with masters of law one can become jurist, lawyer, etc, masters in journalism have different prospects of the profession. Hence it is not so that after pursuing MA there is any specific field of career opportunity rather arts usually makes you generalists and open a wide range of opportunities of career.
