What is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-year undergraduate degree. As the name itself suggest it is an integrated study of Medicine and Surgery rather it a separate degree for medicine and surgery which is regarded as one discipline. The five-year course includes theoretical, practical, and internship. The MBBS course starts with the basic pre and para-clinical subjects such as biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, pathology, forensic medicine including toxicology and pharmacology. The students simultaneously obtain practical training in the wards and out-patient departments, where they interact with real patients for five years. The course also contains a 12-month-long internship, in which an intern is rotated across various specialties. Besides standard clinical care, one also gets a thorough experience of ward management, staff management, and thorough counseling skills. All over the world, it is regarded as one of the most prestigious professions.

Eligibility criteria:-

A student qualified 10+2 with science stream especially Biology stream are eligible to pursue MBBS course. However, few colleges seek standard aggregate marks in 10+2, which may be between 50% to 70% differs from college to college.

Admission Process:-

To get admission in colleges to pursue MBBS, students have to qualify National Eligibility cum entrance test ( NEET ) conducted by National Testing Agency (National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous, and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.)
